A family lost seven cows and nine sheep after an apparent arson incident at Murumba village last night. Gem, Yala Sub-County police are looking into the incident.

Residents of the neighborhood were awakened to a horrific scene in which the family’s cattle pen was set on fire by suspected arsonists, destroying the seven cows and nine sheep.

Homeowner Daniel Owino told Radio Ramogi that he was awakened at four in the morning by neighbors reporting that the cattle pen was on fire. When he arrived, all of the animals were inside and the scene was completely destroyed by the intense fire.

According to a relative, Samuel Owiti, the caregiver attempted to remove the fire but it was all in vain
