Eight Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) troops were hurt while on patrol after their lorry struck an IED in the Baure neighborhood of Lamu County.

In a press release confirming the event, KDF said that the injured were later flown to Manda Base Hospital for treatment.

“KDF condemns the criminals who disrupt movement, and sabotage socio-economic stability in the area. Further, KDF calls upon the residents to share information with the security agencies on these criminal elements who lurk in their communities,” the statement read in part.

During the incident on Sunday night, a technical vehicle belonging to the Kenyan Army was also destroyed.
