Okiya Omtatah, a senator from Busia, and others had appealed the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Finance Act of 2023.
The Apex court declared on Friday that it lacks jurisdiction to hear the appeal and that it is not convinced the Court of Appeals’ ruling resulted in a serious injustice to support its jurisdiction.
“The intended appeals before the Court of Appeal have since been filed and are to be disposed of within 60 days of the impugned ruling. Furthermore, the hearing of the amended petition before the High Court is scheduled to commence this September 2023,” noted the judges of the apex court.
Additionally, the court threw out all of the applicants’ applications because they were all submitted after their deadline had passed.
Additionally, the responses were rejected.
