Salim Swaleh, a former news caster, is one of the people detained in connection with fraud in Mudavadi’s office.

Salim Swaleh, the press director for Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi, is one among the government employees detained on suspicion of helping con artists deceive visitors.

Swaleh and other suspects were detained on Saturday, June 22, according to Peter Warutere, the Secretary of Strategic Communication at the same office. They were part of a group of con artists and government employees who helped them conduct their schemes at Mudavadi’s office at Kenya Railways in Nairobi.

According to Warutere, the arrests happened as a result of a tip that notified security, who subsequently stepped up office surveillance.

The monitoring entailed following a group of people posing as guests. Falsifying their identities as VIP visitors or government officers, they would each enter the Railways Building at separate times and dates.
